The General Conference consists of thousands of individual members who attend churches within one of the seven districts in the United States and Canada. We support and minister alongside each other as individuals, local churches, and districts. Though we have many parts, we are one body — one church (1 Corinthians 12:12).
A board of directors, elected by our members, appoints our president, executive director, and district superintendents. These leaders form an executive team that provides leadership to district board members, local pastors and leaders, and members. We all work together to fulfill our Christ-given roles and purposes.
There is a place for every member to serve, and every member’s service is valued and needed. Together we serve God, one another, and our communities. Together we fulfill Christ’s Great Commission to make disciples.
Our individual congregations are the heart of our church. They are our greatest influence for Christ in our communities and toward one another. We recognize that local churches are the experts in their respective communities, and we are here to support them as they identify needs and serve their constituents.
Local churches can accomplish more for the kingdom of God when they work together, rather than working alone. The General Conference is the vehicle through which individual churches collaborate to support each other and reach the world with the gospel.
In addition to the three General Conference Ministries (Publications, Missions, and Artios Christian College), the Conference provides unifying identity, vision, and focus for local churches. This creates a Christ-centered environment in which all of us may thrive.
Our districts provide the critical link between our shared vision and our congregational ministries. This link consists of the superintendents and their district boards, ministry teams, pastors, and leaders.
Our shared responsibility to spread the gospel brings us closer together and unites our members, churches, and districts as one body — the General Conference of the Church of God (Seventh Day).
